Kadie and Stephen's Engagement Session-44Final .jpg

her side

Stephen and I met at CRU, I had just gotten back from a retreat and was fired up to join the worship team. I had joined a couple friends of mine and when worship was about to begin, this really good looking guy started getting ready to lead worship.

"Who is that?!"

I asked my friend next to me. She laughed and told me it was Stephen, our new worship leader for CRU. My stomach did a backflip. This guy was the guy I had to talk to in order to join the worship team. I was so nervous the rest of the night. When CRU finally wrapped up, I made a b-line straight for Stephen, determined not to chicken out. When I finally made it to the front, I introduced myself awkwardly and talked to him about joining the worship team. Fast forward a few weeks, I was crushing hard and Stephen had no clue. I made it onto the worship team and had the opportunity to work on a project with him for a friend. Every time I was around him I was blown away by his character and his heart for the Lord (and those eyes *swoon*).

Time slowly passed, Stephen and I would meet up with a bunch of mutual friends on the quad in between classes. And eventually spring break rolled around. Stephen went down to Florida with CRU and I went to California with my mom to visit family. We texted a bit over break and he still had no idea. It wasn't until the Sunday night at the end of spring break when I finally told Stephen I liked him. It was sudden, and not eloquent at all, more of an abrupt declaration than anything else. But Stephen, being the kind gentleman he is just responded, "Whoa, I need to process that". WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!? I was instantly nervous all over again and began panicking. A few seconds later I got another text - "Want to get coffee sometime?" HECK YES I DO! I responded cooly "Sure"

We met up for coffee that Monday night, then hung out every day that week. The following Monday Stephen came and hung out with me and my roommates and that was when he asked me out. We didn't even wait for our first date before making it official. And then, as some would say, the rest is history.
